Masters drops Miike

Looks like Showtime‘s MASTERS OF HORROR series should consider retitling itself MASTERS OF BEING A PUSSY. They have dropped the scheduled 13th episode of Season 1 by Takashi Miike from the schedule.

Miike, of course, was the man behind the oh shite I don’t know if I can watch this flick AUDITION. His entry for MOH is titled IMPRINT, and amongst other things, it was axed for disturbing images of aborted fetuses. Now it will get a DVD release instead. How gross.

Apparently the morality zealots who have worked so hard to destroy the free flow of ideas and opinions the US is meant to be based on have won. We’re not talking a nipple at the Super Bowl kids. We’re talking pay cable. When those folks don’t have the backbone to stomach real controversy for fear of the consequences, then we have all lost a little part of what makes us all great.

IMPRINT definitely sounds like nasty business, but since Showtime has decided to choose what I can and can’t handle, I’m going to do them one better and drop my subscription. Just to be safe. After all they might not be enough of a wuss to keep me safe in the future.
