The Tartan train keeps on a givin’! To go along with the announcement earlier, Tartan sent us some info on another Asia Extreme release, Kong Su-chang’s R-POINT.

Marching onto video February 14th, R-POINT tells the story of a South Korean army base during the Vietnam War that begins receiving radio transmissions from a patrol that went MIA in the desolate stretch of land known as R-Point six months earlier. A shell-shocked commanding officer (Gam Woo-sung of SPIDER FOREST) and a ragtag military unit are sent into the murky, enemy-infested swamp to gather clues to the whereabouts of the missing soldiers. Upon their arrival, they find an abandoned building surrounded by the graves of those who entered R-Point before them – and a warning that reads, “No Return”.

The film is the #4 grossing horror film in Korean box office history, and like the caption on the artwork, the film obviously screams of military-guys-meet-supernatural-evil a la DOG SOLDIERS. If it’s anything like DOG SOLDIERS, I’m there!

As for the DVD, we get the usual Korean, with English and Spanish subtitles, anamorphic widescreen, Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound and DTS Surround Sound 5.1. Special features-wise, we get a director’s commentary by Kong Su-chang, A History of R-Point featurette; Behind-the-scenes: Special Effects, production design featurette, the original theatrical trailer, and trailers of Tartan Asia Extreme’s upcoming releases. All this translates into another kickass release from Tartan. Pick this bad boy up, and then NATURAL CITY the following week.
