Whether the success of his recent films has gone to Peter Jackson’s head or he honestly wants to do this, I don’t know.
The website Can Mag reports from one of it’s readers that while discussing with Entertainment Tonight (and Mary Hart’s legs) about the recent DC DVD of THE FRIGHTENERS, Jackson said that he hopes the DVD sells “in droves” so that he has it to back up his argument with Universal about doing a sequel. To top that off, he also wants Michael J. Fox back, if only for a small role in the film.
Now, I liked THE FRIGHTENERS. It was a fun film to watch, and while it did have some flaws, it’s worthy of the cult status. That said, revisiting the film after 10 years seems iffy, at best. I mean, look at what happened with THE GODFATHER PART 2 and PART 3.
Hopefully the film gets the respect it deserves on DVD with the sales, but I won’t be holding my breath for the sequel.
