Can’t wait for Robert Zemekis’ BEOWULF to hit in 2007? Chief Arrow pointed out the official site for this alternative, which is so extensive you’d be hard-pressed to not want to see this film prior to Zemekis’.
BEOWULF & GRENDEL its appearance at the Toronto International Film Festival this past September, and also made stops across Canada at various film festivals in subsequent months. The film, in fact, was directed by Sturla Gunnarsson, who was raised in Canada. The film was not filmed in Canada, but in Gunnarsson’s native Iceland, by the way, keeping with the Beowulf poem.
Besides going through cast, crew, make-up and locations, there are two blogs from the crew on the making of the film (one of which is by writer Andrew Rai Berzins), as well as exhaustive photo galleries from every section of the crew. This is probably as close as you can get to the DVD without buying it.
Speaking of the DVD, there actually isn’t one. Why? For reasons beyond my comprehension, the film still has no distributor, which has got to be up there with the Preacher story earlier in the week. So do yourself a favour and hit up the official site found below. Trust me, Zemekis has got nothing on this one.
