I’ve been waiting for what seems like forever for a proper release of PUMPINHEAD on DVD. The original release by MGM was piss-poor at its best. Fullscreen transfer that looked like it was taken from a VHS, and the only extra was the film’s trailer (in fullscreen as well). While this piece of news isn’t about said DVD, it’s just as cool, if you have the cash.
Proving to be the source for horror fans not on a budget, Sideshow Collectibles is set to release a HUGE maquette of ol’ Pumpkinhead the 2nd quarter of next year. When I say huge I mean HUGE. 27.5″ huge! The maquette was overseen by Stan Winston Studio’s creative director, John Rosengrant, so it’s of the utmost quality and made by the guys who made Pumpkinhead! Words can’t describe how cool this is, so there’s a little pic below that you can click on to check out the full gallery at Sideshow’s store.
Now, usually with something this cool, there’s probably a catch. In this case, the first catch is that it’s once again a limited edition release. The next is the gaping hole this will make in your wallet. How does the tune of $850.00 US sound? Not cheap, but considering what’s involved, it’s not unreasonable. Plus it’s HUGE!
