When someone mentions Kevin Costner, aside from WATERWORLD and THE POSTMAN, you always think of him as a good guy (well, except in 3000 MILES TO GRACELAND, where Kurt Russell kicked his ass). Well, according to Production Weekly, Costner will portray a serial killer in Bruce A. Evans’ upcoming psychological thriller MR. BROOKS. Evans, who penned the script with Raynold Gideon (and who last wrote the screenplay for JUNGLE 2 JUNGLE), will direct the film on location in Portland, Oregon, beginning in April.
Speaking of box office bombs like the above mentioned films (I don’t know how JUNGLE 2 JUNGLE did, but then again I don’t think anyone knows), Evans’ other claim-to-fame (if you can call it that) was being apart of the writing team for CUTTHROAT ISLAND. In turn that film was directed by Renny Harlin, who Warner Bros. championed as the better alternative to Paul Schrader to direct EXORCIST: THE BEGINNING.
