Hostel at the Gate?

According the the boys over in Fangoria land, a ‘reliable source’ has informed them that Screen Gems is no longer handling the theatrical distribution for Eli Roth’s HOSTEL. Instead, the duty goes to everyone’s favorite genre studio, Lion’s Gate. No word on why the switch took place, or on any release dates, but considering Lion’s Gate handled Roth’s previous effort so well (CABIN FEVER), it seems to make sense.

Plus, Screen Gems would probably have Roth cut the film to high hell to make it tamer (these are the same guys who went with the PG-13-friendly THE CAVE). The workprint of HOSTEL was screened to much fanfare at the recent Toronto Film Festival, so keep your fingers crossed with hope that the film’s release date appears soon.
