Fresh off of SERENITY, the upcoming big screen adaptation of Josh Wheadon’s excellent series FIREFLY, Nathan Fillion sat down and chatted with SciFi Wire about his role in SLITHER. Fillion is one of those guys you may not know where you recognize him from, but you’d do well to start taking notice. He’s not flashy, but he’s one hell of an actor.

Here’s what he had to say about his character in James Gunn’s pending splatterfest:

He was the football hero in high school. He was the good-looking guy, very popular in town, in this economically depressed town. He becomes a police officer. It’s a government job. There’s no crime going on. He just gets to kick back and do nothing…. He’s not accustomed to responsibility…

And now, Slither, when it opens up, he’s faced with impending alien world domination and, for the first time, some real responsibility. This man is blissfully unprepared for it, for the challenge…He’s not someone saying, ‘I’m going to rise to this challenge. I know just what to do. Everybody relax.’ No, He’s in a panic. He’s upset. No one’s prepared. That’s what I think makes this movie so great…

So this flick’s gonna have old school brutal gore mixed with believable characters that we can actually care about? I knew if I wished long and hard enough that my dreams would come true!
