According to Dark Horizons, John Malkovich has reportedly joined on to star alongside Anthony Hopkins and Robin Wright Penn in Robert Zemeckis’ adaptation of BEOWULF, which will be shot using the motion-capture animation technology that was used in Zemeckis’ THE POLAR EXPRESS.
Malkovich, who recently attended the Locarno Film Festival in Switzerland, was talking about some of his upcoming projects when he dropped the news.
In BEOWULF, Malkovich’s role is that of “a sort of advisor to the King. But I don’t have the newest script which will be on my desk when I am back in France. It’s not definitive [that Malkovich is in it]. But it is very likely.”
The film is based off of a poem by the great Anonymous (he’s written tons of stuff over the years). In it, a Scandinavian warrior takes on the legendary monster, Grendel. The film is set for release in 2007.
