Thank You Clive!

Clive Barker had announced some time ago that he was looking forward to adapting his BOOKS OF BLOOD into movies, at the rate of about two a year. Great news then, and even better news now as another of those projects is closer to fruition.

But before I tell you about that, let me give you a quote from Mr. Barker that made me tear up a little: [We] want to wind up with a library of pictures that will reflect my sensibilities, which are decidedly R rated. In fact, the moment I make a PG-13 horror movie, you can take me out and shoot me. Our desire is to leave you feeling that we’re a little crazy.”

Yay!

As usual, Barker has a ton of projects in the works at the same time, but the one that we’ll focus on today is THE MIDNIGHT MEAT TRIAN which has Lakeshore Entertainment on board to produce with Lions Gate set to distribute. The flick concerns a Gotham-based photographer’s effort to track down “the subway butcher,” a search that leads to an unholy secret.

Production will start in the fall, and when it does, I think we can all feel confident that a demon will get its wings.
