For The Birds

Looks like the Hitchcock remakes are just gonna keep on coming. Hot on the heels of news that STRANGERS ON A TRAIN will be remade, we get word that is going to remake THE BIRDS with – surprise, surprise – Michael Bay’s in negotiations to produce along with Peter Guber through .

I guess there’s not much point in raging against the dying of genre creativity anymore, so let’s look at this from a practical standpoint. At least it’s not a shot for shot remake like the backed remake. At least a new generation of horror fans are getting introduced to classics, even if they have to see the new before they get to the old.

And finally, at least when some studio comes across an horror script that really gets them excited, the profitability of horror will be such a given that the thing might actually get made!

I’m just worried about a flock of viscious CGI birds. But maybe they’ll surprise us, and it’ll be all practical for the birds, but we’ll get a CGI Tippi Hedren. Now THAT would be cool!
