Looks like what I can only most charitably call the dubious wisdom of PG-13 horror will continue to be visited upon us. The stellar opening of the RING TWO this weekend will continue to show studios that chopped up horror gets teen butts into seats. In fact the $36 million total more than doubled THE RING‘s take on it’s opening weekend.
Yay for our beloved genre! Boo for genre fans expectation of seeing legitimately intense, adult horror get greenlit. Number 1 openings for horror flicks rock, but it’d be nice to see something with a little more depth, and a few less tired old boo-scares getting made.
Seems like we’re getting burgers galore lately when it comes to genre work. And burgers are great, but c’mon guys, bring on some steaks!
