Cursed rating

Since when is making a PG-13 rated werewolf a good idea? CURSED, the Wes Craven picture from hell, has been given another blow this week, this time by distributor Dimension Films.

Craven explains to Fangoria: “At this point, Bob Weinstein is talking about wanting to make it a PG-13 film. Now I saw the film on Saturday, and it looks terrific. It’s a good little movie. But if he starts coming in, trying to make it a PG-13, it’s going to look chopped up.”

Yeah, chopped up and stupid! What’s up with this craze of cutting films down of all the gore, sex and violence we adults expect from our horror films? If a kid can’t see an R rated werewolf film, why on earth would the parents let them watch a PG-13 rated werewolf film? I still can’t grasp the logic of cutting down quality for a little extra cash, and I suppose I never will.

CURSED, whether the original R rated, or Dimension’s f*ck puppet PG-13 version, hits theaters (finally) February 25, 2005, and stars Christina Ricci & Joshua Jackson.
