Goreless Scared Adaption

Looking for a zombie/slasher flick that focuses on the victims relationships with each other, and not the gorey violence? Yeah- me neither, but filmmaker William Moreing (JOYFUL PARTAKING) thinks it’s a fine idea, as he’s adapting the Jahnna Beecham/ Malcolm Hillgartner novel SCARED STIFF, says Variety.



The story’s about a teenage brother and sister, as they live above the mortuary their parents run. But when the corpse of a mass murderer wakes up and begins hacking away with revenge, it’s up to the brother/sister team to stop him.



This would sound phat, except that the film is going to focus entirely on the brother/sister friendship, as they must help each other find the strength to kick this zombie’s ass… a zombie movie with very little gore. Hmmmm. The brother/sister team worked in JEEPERS CREEPERS, but the film also had bloody violence- where STIFF will not.



If done right, there could be incredible tension, and a great story of terror on a psychological horror scale. Or, it could be just another kiddie movie with none of the red stuff, or the scares either. Beecham and Hillgartner are working on the script as we speak.
