Fangoria got word that F/X guru John Carl Buechler, who created monsterous effects for NIGHTMARE ON ELM ST. 4 and FRIDAY THE 13TH PART 7 to name a few, is behind the scenes once again, this time as director.
His new movie, TOTAL REX, is about a T-Rex, cloned back to life a la JURRASIC PARK style, who breaks out of the lab and goes on a people eating, destruction happy rampage. Did I mention Bruechler also created the dino effects for CARNOSAUR?
If a T-Rex on a killing spree isn’t your cup of tea, you might want to check it out just to see the cast, as horror alumns Tony Todd, Dee Wallace Stone and Jeff Fahey star in this distopia of man vs. dino.
Don’t get me wrong, a lot of times rampage dino movies are really bad, but they can also be a lot of fun (you really can’t go wrong watching some asshole eaten in one bite). My money is that this one’s going to be worth a watch, if for no other reason, to see Tony Todd be the badass he really is!
Buechler is currently wrapping his latest F/X project NATIONAL LAMPOON’S: MEN IN WHITE, and we should be seeing TOTAL REX sometime in the near future- as always, stay tuned as we hear more…
