Your Lucky Day: Jessica Garza and 7 more cast in horror thriller

Jessica Garza of The Purge TV series and Penny Dreadful: City of Angels has signed on to star in the horror thriller Your Lucky Day alongside Angus Cloud (Euphoria), Elliot Knight (Color Out of Space), Jason O’Mara (The Man in the High Castle), Spencer Garrett (Dopesick), Mousa Kraish (American Gods), Jason Wiles (the Scream TV series), and Sebastian Sozzi (Fear the Walking Dead), Deadline reports.

Written and directed by Dan Brown (not the one that wrote The Da Vinci Code), Your Lucky Day is described as “a morality tale” and is set on

Christmas Eve in a small convenience store near the bottom of the socioeconomic food chain where a hostage situation breaks out over a $156 million lottery ticket. When things inevitably spiral, the film becomes a hardboiled look at how the poisonous heart of the American dream is actually a nightmare.

A hostage situation breaking out over a lottery ticket in a convenience store sounds more like crime thriller territory than horror, but the casting announcement calls this a horror movie so we’ll go along with it.

Your Lucky Day is being produced by Luke Barnett and Adam Baxter.

The film is a feature expansion of a 16 minute short film Dan Brown made back in 2010. This may be Brown’s first feature; he has another called The Intervention listed as being in pre-production on his IMDb page, but it looks like Your Lucky Day will be going into production first.
