Over a year and a half ago, Apple TV+ started airing Foundation, a series based on the award-winning stories by Isaac Asimov. (You can read our review HERE.) Viewers who enjoyed the ten episode first season have had a long wait for season 2, but it’s finally going to start airing this Friday, July 14th – and in anticipation of the premiere date, we’ve gotten our hands on the full trailer for Foundation season 2. You can watch it in the embed above.

David S. Goyer is the showrunner on Foundation. The ten episode second season will pick up more than a century after the season one finale, with tension mounting throughout the galaxy. As the Cleons unravel, a vengeful queen plots to destroy Empire from within. Hari, Gaal, and Salvor discover a colony of Mentalics with psionic abilities that threaten to alter psychohistory itself. The Foundation has entered its religious phase, promulgating the Church of Seldon throughout the Outer Reach and inciting the Second Crisis: war with Empire. The monumental adaptation of “Foundation” chronicles the stories of four crucial individuals transcending space and time as they overcome deadly crises, shifting loyalties and complicated relationships that will ultimately determine the fate of humanity.

The series stars Jared Harris, Lee Pace, Lou Llobell, Leah Harvey, Laura Birn, Cassian Bilton, and Terrence Mann, with season 2 welcoming newcomers Isabella Laughland as Brother Constant, Kulvinder Ghir as Poly Verisof, Ella-Rae Smith as Queen Sareth of Cloud Dominion, Holt McCallany as Warden Jaegger Fount, Rachel House as Tellem Bond, Nimrat Kaur as Yanna Seldon, Ben Daniels as Bel Riose, and Dimitri Leonidas as Hober Mallow.

Foundation is produced by Skydance Television. Goyer serves as executive producer alongside Alex Graves, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Bill Bost, Robin Asimov, and Marcy Ross. Goyer also hosts Foundation: The Official Podcast with Jason Concepcion. Produced by Pineapple Street Studios with Max Linsky, Jenna Weiss-Berman, and Bari Finkel executive producing, that show is available on Apple Podcasts.

Foundation season 2 will premiere with one episode on July 14th, and the remaining nine episodes will be released through Apple TV+ on a weekly basis, becoming available every Friday.
