Among Us Interviews: Elijah Wood, Randall Park, Yvette Nicole Brown, Kimiko Glenn, & more get sus about the viral game’s animated series

In space, no one can hear you accuse your co-worker of being an alien in disguise, hellbent on devouring your team one differently-colored containment suit at a time. That’s how that tagline goes, right? Anyway, Among Us, the social deduction video game that resurged during the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, is back in the spotlight, thanks to a new animated series that’s a clever whodunit in space. During the lead-up to this star-studded animation, we spoke with the show’s creator, Owen Dennis (Regular Show, Infinity Train), and select stars of the series, including Elijah Wood, Yvette Nicole Brown, Randall Park, and Kimiko Glenn!

While speaking with Elijah Wood and Yvette Nicole Brown, we find out if either of them has played the game, and their answers could surprise you! We also discuss their extreme characters, the thrills of voice acting, and more! Then, while talking with Randall Park and Kimiko Glenn, we find out what the duo enjoys about the whodunit genre, how Park would react if he met a captain as ineffectual as Red, and what it was like for Glenn to record her dialogue for this wacky show. Finally, we talk with Owen Dennis about creating Among Us for Paramount+, including his approach to episode length, how the cast came together, his unique approach to humor, and how he arrived at the show’s overall tone.

If you want to learn more about Among Us and my opinion of the series so far, check out my full review here. For a taste of what I had to say, check out this blurb from the write-up: “Aspects of the show feel too mature for the game’s younger players, especially in its lampooning of corporate culture. In contrast, non-gamers could feel as if they’re missing out on some of the nods to Innersloth‘s wildly popular gaming sensation. Thankfully, Among Us does a good job of meeting people in the middle and providing enough for casuals to grasp the concept and run with it. If whodunits are your jam, Among Us is a fun get-in-get-out animated mystery that will keep you guessing and laughing as crewmates steadily meet a tragic and bloody end with almost every episode.”
