Universal Pictures pumped $250 million into the budget of writer/director Christopher Nolan’s epic fantasy action film The Odyssey, which is inspired by the ancient story by Homer and is set to receive a theatrical release on July 17th. The Asylum had a significantly lower budget to work with when crafting their mockbuster, also titled The Odyssey, and you can see the result in the trailer embedded above. What is The Odyssey about?
The film has the following synopsis: Based on the Ancient Greek epic. After ten years of war, King Odysseus sets sail for Ithaca, eager to reunite with his beloved. But his journey home is far more treacherous than the battlefield, as he must face deadly monsters and vengeful gods to survive.
