For a lifelong fan who grew up trading Evil Dead VHS tapes as a kid, the pressure on a new sequel is massive. Sam Raimi’s original trilogy filled my childhood with bloody joy, creating a hyper-specific blend of horror and dark comedy that is incredibly tough to replicate.
I am beyond thrilled to report that Evil Dead Burn is freaking special. The sequel is gruesome and suspenseful, featuring several unforgettable moments that will leave any hardcore genre fan beaming.
A Traumatic Family Reunion
The story centers on a woman already reeling from the tragic loss of her husband. When strained relations with her deceased groom’s family boil over, a fresh Necronomicon outbreak ensures all hell breaks loose. Watching a family dynamic actively morph into a gauntlet of menacing Deadites raises the emotional stakes to a suffocating degree.
Standout Performances and Directorial Fire
The performances across the board elevate the terror. Erroll Shand turns in a particularly menacing, skin-crawling performance and Souheila Yacoub brings pure fire to her role as Alice, anchoring the film’s emotional chaos.

I recently spoke with Infested director Sébastien Vanicek about his take on this incredible franchise. The director brings such ferocious energy to the world of Evil Dead. I asked him about creating such a terrifying family reunion and the traumatic nature on display. Evil Dead Burn doesn’t hold back. It’s extremely well shot, and the kills are creative and bloody.
Finally, I sat down with Souheila Yacoub, Hunter Doohan, and Luciane Buchanan. It was ridiculously fun. The trio had such an easy chemistry during the interview that it’s not surprising they worked so well together. Evil Dead Burn is one of the most satisfying sequels I’ve seen in a long time. I cannot stop thinking about this one.
