During today’s post-Comic-Con comedown, Amazon, MGM Studios, and Alliance Home Entertainment are ready to announce the physical release of Masters of the Universe! Directed by Laika’s Travis Knight, the epic fantasy action-adventure arrives on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on October 20, 2026.

The star-studded feature brings He-Man back to the spotlight with an ensemble cast including Nicholas Galitzine, Camila Mendes, Alison Brie, James Purefoy, Morena Baccarin, Johannes Haukur Johannesson, Kristen Wiig, Jared Leto, and Idris Elba.
“After being separated for 15 years, the Sword of Power leads Prince Adam (Nicolas Galitzine) back to Eternia, where he discovers his home shattered under the fiendish rule of Skeletor (Jared Leto),” reads the movie’s official synopsis. “To save his family and his world, Adam must join forces with his closest allies, Teela (Camila Mendes) and Duncan/Man-At-Arms (Idris Elba), and embrace his true destiny as He-Man – the most powerful man in the universe.”

In addition to standard playback, the 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray releases arrive packed with bonus features, including a Behind-The-Scenes Promotional Gallery and “Masters of Light: Skies of Eternia Drone Spectacle.”
Another chance to shine with fans
Despite enthusiastic reviews from critics and fans, Masters of the Universe, directed by Laika Studios’ boss Travis Knight, only grossed $113.5 million worldwide against a reported budget of $170 million. It’s a shame that more people didn’t show up for Prince Adam’s latest live-action adventure, but competition at the cinema is fierce this summer, and there’s always a chance that Masters of the Universe could become a smash hit on the home market.
I was supposed to watch Masters of the Universe with friends this past weekend, but after several days of covering San Diego Comic-Con, I was wiped out and bailed. Still, I plan to watch it tonight on Prime Video before leaving for a secret work-related trip on Wednesday. I’ve been a Masters of the Universe fan for as long as I can remember, and more than anything, I look forward to seeing some of my favorite characters recreated for the latest re-imagining of the classic franchise.
