Alex Ullom’s Newest Film

That was quick! In a new age where young directors of films like Obsession and Backrooms are becoming the new wave of Hollywood, Alex Ullom’s It Ends has yet to even be released, and NEON is already teasing his next feature. Ullom’s next movie, titled 4×4: The Event, has announced its casting with a bit of promotion on social media that is just a slideshow of the cast, along with info from the game in the film.

According to Deadline, the eight main cast members in 4×4: The Event include Sophia Lillis (It), Dylan Minnette (13 Reasons Why), Marcel Ruiz (One Day at a Time), Quintessa Swindell (Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma), Maddie Phillips (Gen V), Mitchell Cole (It Ends), Jaden Smith and Jacob Tremblay (Room). The character details are currently kept under wraps, but it’s being said that filming has already been completed.

According to DiscussingFilm, “The film follows 8 contestants as they join a livestream where they must kill or be killed using only what they can order online.” You can check out the teaser video in their post below.

Spooky Pictures and Image Nation Studios produced under their partnership, alongside Divide/Conquer & Phobos. As you can see, NEON has already started the promotion for it.

It Ends

Meanwhile, Ullom’s debut feature premieres this week. After premiering at SXSW last year and later winning Best First Feature at the Fantasia International Film FestivalIt Ends is now preparing to introduce a wider audience to its unsettling story of survival, repetition, and the horror of being trapped in a nightmare that won’t end.

Ullom’s story has the following synopsis: “Some wrong turns last forever. A group of recent grads head out on a late night drive for grub, hoping to enjoy one final hangout before their paths diverge. Instead, they accidentally turn onto a never-ending, two-lane hellscape surrounded by untold horrors and cosmic forces beyond their understanding. Cramped together inside a Jeep Cherokee and with the miles stretching infinitely ahead, they face a choice: embrace their new existence or fight to escape it.”

While It Ends features the kind of terrifying imagery and survival elements horror fans expect, Ullom has explained that the film is less about the immediate scares and more about how people adapt when horror becomes part of everyday life.
