A24 has just unveiled a new trailer for Primetime just before its release in ten more days. Robert Pattinson’s chameleon-like disappearance into Chris Hansen is enough to get audiences excited for the film, but it also takes a visceral look at the making of To Catch a Predator and critics are showering praise on the execution of the film as it tells the story of its subject matter. Welcome to Primetime
The details around the film had been kept under wraps when it was in production and the only thing known during its development was that it was a crime drama inspired by the Dateline NBC show To Catch a Predator.
The official synopsis of Primetime reads, “In 2006, To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen sets out to make television history.” The film stars Robert Pattinson, Merritt Wever, Skyler Gisondo, Phoebe Bridgers, Matthew Maher, Bokeem Woodbine and Sean Bridgers. The movie is written by Ajon Singh and based on an article by Luke Dittrich.
Pattinson also produces the film along with Ari Aster, Lars Knudsen, Brighton McCloskey, Tyler Campellone, Fred Berger and Brian Kavanaugh-Jones. Oppenheim and Singh will also executive produce the film with William Iannaccone and A.J. Bourscheid for Range and Emily Hildner for Square Peg.
Lance Oppenheim, who recently helmed the HBO documentary series, Ren Faire, developed the film with Pattinson to be his debut narrative feature film. Singh is also tapped to write Lord and Miller’s Spider-Punk with Daniel Kaluuya co-writing and starring.
Oppenheim has worked with acclaimed filmmakers like Darren Aronofsky, who produced his documentary Some Kind of Heaven. He has also worked alongside Josh and Benny Safdie, both of whom backed Ren Faire. The director credited growing up in Florida as being an “insane place,” which inspired his documentary filmmaking.
Primetime is set to have its world premiere at the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, then it comes to theaters on September 25
Robert Pattinson’s 2026
With the inclusion of Primetime, we will have had a Robert Pattinson movie in each season of 2026. It seems as if Pattinson, Tom Holland, Zendaya and Jon Bernthal are all having a great year. The latter three are having great success in the back-to-back summer hits — The Odyssey and Spider-Man: Brand New Day. However, Pattinson stars in The Drama with Zendaya, The Odyssey, also with Zendaya and Dune: Part Three, which will also have Zendaya. Pattinson is also finding himself working to change regimes in both The Odyssey and Dune: Part Three.
