Chloe Grace Moretz to battle A.I. in Mother/Android, from The Batman team

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

THE BATMAN writer/director Matt Reeves and co-writer Mattson Tomlin will continue their working relationship on a sci-fi thriller called MOTHER/ANDROID – but for this one, Reeves will be serving as producer, while Tomlin will be making his feature directorial debut.

Tomlin's MOTHER/ANDROID screenplay was inspired by the real life story of his own parents, "a young couple who were determined to save their child amid the dangers of the Romanian Revolution." The film will star Chloe Grace Moretz as a woman named Georgia

who, with her boyfriend Sam, goes on a treacherous journey to escape their country, which is caught in an unexpected war with artificial intelligence. Days away from the arrival of their first child, the couple must face No Man’s Land — a stronghold of the android uprising, in hopes of reaching safety before giving birth.

MOTHER/ANDROID is set up at Miramax. Reeves will be producing the film through his company 6th & Idaho, alongside Adam Kassan, Rafi Crohn, Charles Miller, and Miramax's Bill Block.

Tomlin had this to say about the project:

MOTHER/ANDROID is a deeply personal story inspired by sacrifices made to bring me into this world. I’m thrilled to be working with Miramax and my friend Matt Reeves to tell a story that speaks to the strength of humanity in the darkest of times."

Block added:

Tomlin gracefully weaves the history of his roots into a futuristic tale with an imaginative twist on reality. It’s a true testament to his talent and unique approach at captivating broad, global audiences."

This sounds like an interesting project, and I think it was very cool that Tomlin thought of turning the story of his parents and his own birth into a sci-fi thriller about a war with androids. I look forward to seeing how this turns out.
