Hot on the heels of the re-release of Avengers: Endgame comes the news that Spider-Man: Brand New Day might be heading back to theaters as well, this time armed with extra footage.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day Re-Release
Deadline has heard that Spider-Man: Brand New Day will be getting a theatrical re-release, and, like Avengers: Endgame Encore, it will include new footage to entice audiences to come back.
It’s unclear what this extra footage will consist of, but the report states it will include Rosario Dawson’s appearance as Claire Temple, which was left on the cutting room floor. There will be more surprises, but those will have to wait.
As Brand New Day is still playing in theaters, it’s not clear when this re-release will take place, but I’d imagine it will arrive before the release of Avengers: Doomsday.
Brand New Day recently overtook Star Wars: The Force Awakens to become the highest-grossing domestic film of all time. It also stands as the third-highest-grossing film worldwide with a haul of $2.4 billion, behind Avatar and Avengers: Endgame. This re-release would push that even higher, perhaps even making it the first film to gross $1 billion at the domestic box office.
What We Thought
Our own Chris Bumbray called Brand New Day a surprisingly mature Spider-Man movie that doesn’t try to compete with the spectacle of all three live-action Spider-Men teaming up in No Way Home.
“I had a good time with Brand New Day,” he wrote. “While it wasn’t the rollercoaster ride No Way Home was or as innovative as the animated Spider-Verse movies, I preferred it to the first two Holland-led Spider-Man movies. It’s surprisingly mature, with some strong characterization as the character evolves into a more adult-skewing hero.“

Avengers: Endgame Encore
The re-release of Avengers: Endgame has proven quite successful for Marvel, with the film opening to $86 million worldwide. It includes some new footage that ties into Doomsday, but whether it’s worth the price of a ticket is up to you. Still, it’s always a treat to get to see a movie back on the big screen.
