A little mid-week release date shuffle for you as Sony Pictures has announced dates for a handful of its upcoming movies, including 24 Jump Street, Ridley Scott’s Treasure Island movie starring Hugh Jackman, and more. However, some films have been pushed back from their previous dates, including Justin Lin’s Helldivers movie based on the video game franchise.
Sony Release Date Changes
- The Surgeon, the action flick starring Michelle Yeoh, has been set for an April 2, 2027 release.
- Narcs, a comedy starring Mason Thames and Ella Bright, will hit theaters on August 20, 2027.
- Ridley Scott’s Treasure Island will follow on November 11, 2027.
- And finally, 24 Jump Street will be released on December 10, 2027.
As for the changes, the Helldivers movie has been delayed, moving from November 10, 2027 to June 9, 2028, and Grandyear, the first English-language movie from Godzilla Minus One director Takashi Yamazaki, has moved from February 18, 2028 to January 14, 2028.

24 Jump Street will feature the return of Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum, and Ice Cube. Rodney Rothman (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse) will direct the film from a script he co-wrote with Hill and Meghan Malloy.
Just last year, Tatum opened up about the long-delayed 23 Jump Street, which he described as “the best script I’ve ever read for me and Jonah [Hill].” Unfortunately, despite his enthusiasm, Tatum didn’t think the sequel would move forward — mainly due to the hefty costs associated with the numerous producers involved
As for Treasure Island, Ridley Scott will direct the latest adaptation of the classic Robert Louis Stevenson novel. Jack Thorne has penned the script, which is said to offer a “fresh take” on the story. Hugh Jackman will play Blackbeard, with Hugh Grant and Owen Cooper also set to star in the film.
Helldivers has already experienced some turmoil behind the scenes. When the project was first announced, Jason Momoa was slated to star, but he was forced to exit the film due to scheduling conflicts. But Reacher star Alan Ritchson quickly enlisted to take his place and lead the charge. The story centers on an elite unit of soldiers—known as Helldivers— who must battle alien creatures threatening to destroy the fictional planet of Super Earth.
