New still from Monster Hunter shows off Milla Jovovich with a Slinger!

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

While Paul W.S. Anderson's directing career has been…mixed, to say the least, he can still lay claim to helming one of the only good videogame adaptations (1995's MORTAL KOMBAT), and the mastermind behind the most financially successful videogame movie franchises ever (the RESIDENT EVIL series, based on the Capcom horror game franchise). So it's no surprise he's going back to the videogame well, as well as back to a Capcom franchise – namely the successful MONSTER HUNTER games.

Here's the official synopsis:

Based on Capcom’s hugely popular series of action RPGs, Monster Hunter will focus on an elite military unite who find themselves mysteriously transported to a world filled with gigantic beasts. Jovovich stars as Captain Natalie Artemis, the leader of the group, who is forced to prevent the monsters from the new world she finds herself in from entering a portal and invading Earth.

And now Sony – who is distributing the film – has unveiled a new official still, showing off star Milla Jovovich in MONSTER HUNTER armor, as well as brandishing on the game's iconic weapons…the Slinger. You can check it out below:

Meanwhile, MONSTER HUNTER – also starring Tony Jaa, Ron Perlman, Diego Boneta, and Meagan Good – is expected to hunting in theaters September 4th…but we'll keep you updated if that date sticks.

So what do you guys think? Excited for a MONSTER HUNTER film? If so, like what you've seen of the adaptation so far? Either way, sound off below!
