Resident Evil 8: Village trailer has witches and werewolves!

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

So this is f*cking awesome! At the PS5 Future of Gaming Event, they revealed a trailer for Capcom's upcoming RESIDENT EVIL sequel, RESIDENT EVIL 8: VILLAGE. There had been a lot of rumors – that it would remain first-person, it would bring back fan-favorite Chris Redfield, and that it would involve witches and werewolves. Which all turned out to be true! I for one am excited about the new direction. It worked out great when RESIDENT EVIL 4 ditched classic zombies, and I think RE7 did a great job with the TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE homage, so I think this has the potential to do a great job expanding the series' mythology as well!

Anyway, here's the official description:

The story for the game sees it taking place a few years after the events of Resident Evil 7, where protagonist Ethan Winters travelled to Louisiana to search for his missing wife, Mia. Resident Evil 8 sees the reunited Mia and Ethan living happily together and putting their shared nightmares of the Baker’s plantation house behind them. Finally able to move on from those horrifying events, Ethan’s world suddenly comes crashing down once again when Chris Redfield, an unexpected yet familiar face makes a shocking appearance, setting off a chain of events that sees a distraught Ethan seeking answers to Chris’s shocking actions, ultimately finding him in a mysterious village…

RE8 will see the return of the first-person perspective, while the fear of dark corners has been replaced with the anxiety of the unknown as Ethan searches for answers within decrepit buildings among snow-covered trees. And if the leaks are anything to go by (which they haven’t been confirmed as of yet), we’re in for a real treat.

So what do you guys think? Excited for the new direction the series is going? If so, what're you most excited about (or conversely, what're you most concerned about?) Either way, sound off below!
