A Grudge at #1

A sequel to a successful horror movie, a PG-13 Japanese horror remake and a release date of Friday the 13th – it shouldn’t surprise anyone that THE GRUDGE 2 made it to the top spot of the Box Office this weekend, despite not being screened for critics. Hooray for horror!


Not that $22M is spectacular, since the first movie racked in $39M in its opening weekend, but the numbers are impressive, considering the budget was around $20M, so anything it makes from this point on is pure profit. Good shite.


I for one DID NOT check it out over the weekend, partly due to being extremely busy with a bunch of other crap, and partly due to the fact that it just looked ‘Ok’. Drop by our latest MOVIE POLL and let us know what you thought of it.


In other box office horror news, TCM: THE BEGINNING took a considerable drop (which is usual, I suppose) from #2 to #5 on the list, racking in just under $8M… but when you weigh in the fact that it was a considerably low budget R rated prequel, it’s actually been quite a big hit (though less than it’s predecessor).
