I thought that after Benedict Cumberbatch had joined Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael Fassbender, Paul Dano, and Brad Pitt in 12 YEARS A SLAVE we were already on route to a brilliantly acted piece of cinema. But then co-writer/director Steve McQueen said “I’m not going to stop there. Alejandro, what were you thinking?”

So now has been reported that Scoot McNairy (KILLING THEM SOFTLY, ARGO), Ruth Negga (BREAKFAST ON PLUTO), Sarah Paulson (SERENITY) and Garret Dillahunt (THE ROAD, “Deadwood”) have joined the film alongside Paul Giamatti.  Because why settle for the best when you can have better?

12 YEARS A SLAVE sees Ejiofor star in the true story of a free man kidnapped and sold into slavery in Louisiana. Paulson will take the role of “Fassbender’s jealous wife, while Giamatti will play Freeman, who takes possession of the slaves upon their arrival in New Orleans.” I will now follow the example of another “Paulson” and sit outside my local cinema until this film is released some time in 2013.
