A Kick Ass budget

Not too long ago I gave you all a casting update on KICK-ASS that had Nicolas Cage, Aaron Johnson, and Lyndsy Fonseca (below) all joining the project. Well on this abnormally slow news day, I’ve got another interesting tidbit for you all regarding KICK-ASS.

G4TV recently caught up with comic book god Frank Millar and Millar, in the chaos of all his SUPERMAN trilogy talk, brought up the fact that Matthew Vaughn has a $70 million budget for his ‘indie’ film. Here’s what Millar said:

“He has a bunch of rich pals who coughed up $10 million each or something and in two dinner parties, he raised $70 million. Now he’s going to make the movie the way people want to see it.”

Heh, I’d like those kind of friends too. At least they’re all smart enough to see Mr. Vaughn (above) might just have something here. As previously reported, major studios have been afraid of KICK-ASS and Vaughn’s refusal to tone it down, so he ventured out to produce it on his own. Now with help like this he’ll be able to make the awesome flick we’re all expecting. You can go ahead and check out Millar’s interview below.

Now are you asking yourself how violent and badass KICK-ASS is set to be? Well take this quote in:

“There’s a younger girl in it. Her and Nicolas Cage do a lot of the fighting. I don’t do much fighting – I get my faced kicked in a lot though. She goes around with a samurai sword cutting people’s heads off. It’s very violent obviously. It’s going to be quite a crazy one. I play an American comic book nerd so it’s very different from the sex god roles.”

That’s awesome. Well the ‘little girl cutting people’s heads off with a sword’ thing. That comes from star Aaron Johnson in an interview he recently did with
Moviehole.net. So that’s it for KICK-ASS thus far, I definately can’t wait for it. As always, we’ll keep you updated.
