A look at young Mike and Sully from Monsters University

Pixar sequels are a tricky game, and so far the company has been reluctant to try them for more than a few films. They had huge success with TOY STORY 2 and 3, but their latest CARS attempt earned them their first “bad” film in history.

What will MONSTERS UNIVERSITY bring then? The original is fantastic, but will a prequel have the same sort of magic? All we’d seen so far from the film was a plot synopsis, but now from D23 comes a few character redesigns (via FirstShowing).

Below you can see the updates to the titular Mike and Sully. They’re a bit less bulky than in their later years, and Mike’s rocking one mean retainer. Check out the pics with the full plot after that.

“Mike Wazowski and James P. Sullivan are an inseparable pair, but that wasn’t always the case. From the moment these two mismatched monsters met they couldn’t stand each other. Monsters University unlocks the door to how Mike and Sulley overcame their differences and became the best of friends.”
