A Quiet Place: Day One gets March 2024 release date

There are two entries in the A Quiet Place franchise in the works at Paramount. One is a sequel to the previous two movies, so we’ll call it A Quiet Place Part III until we’re told otherwise. That one is expected to reach theatres sometime in 2025. The other project is a spin-off, the one that Jeff Nichols (Midnight Special) was attached to write and direct for a while. When Nichols dropped out, he was replaced by Pig director Michael Sarnoski. This “spin-off” was originally given a March 2023 release date, then it was pushed back to September. Now Variety reports that it has another new release date: March 8, 2024.

Details on this spin-off are being kept under wraps, but it does finally have an official title. It’s called A Quiet Place: Day One. The story will take place in the same world established in the first two movies, but apparently isn’t focused on the Abbott family, the characters we followed through the two movies directed by John Krasinski.

It’s interesting to hear that this one is set on Day One of the alien invasion. The opening sequence A Quiet Place Part II gave us a hectic glimpse at the events of Day One, and it was clearly a hell of a day.

Deadline’s sources said that

after seeing Pig and being blown away by the film, Krasinski was quick to put Sarnoski on the short list of directors to take a meeting for the project. While insiders say Sarnoski’s vision for the film was still his own and different from what Krasinski had done with the first two, he still gave a pitch that fit the tone of the world they had created and felt he was the perfect fit for their next installment.

Krasinski will be producing A Quiet Place: Day One under his Sunday Night banner, while Michael Bay, Andrew Form, and Brad Fuller will produce through their company Platinum Dunes. Krasinski’s Sunday Night partner Allyson Seeger serves as executive producer.
