A24 releases trailer for Hereditary director’s Midsommar

Midsommar Ari Aster

Last week distributor A24 shared a poster and some promotional images for their new collaboration with HEREDITARY writer/director Ari Aster, the upcoming horror film MIDSOMMAR. Now a trailer for the film has arrived online to give a look at what Aster has cooked up for us this time. It appears to be something very much along the lines of THE WICKER MAN, and it seems to have the potential to be quite creepy.

MIDSOMMAR delves into "Scandinavian folk horror" and has been described as an "apocalyptic breakup" movie. Florence Pugh and Jack Reynor star as

a couple that travels to Sweden to visit their friend's rural hometown for its fabled mid-summer festival. What begins as an idyllic retreat quickly devolves into an increasingly violent and bizarre competition at the hands of a pagan cult.

Will Poulter, Vilhem Blomgren, William Jackson Harper, Ellora Torchia, and Archie Madekwe are also in the cast.

MIDSOMMAR is scheduled to reach theatres this summer, on August 9th.
