Aaron Sorkin’s The Newsroom gets a poster to go along with a great pair of teasers

Aaron Sorkin’s THE NEWSROOM makes me wish I still had HBO. I love the quickfire dialogue that he writes and the timeliness of his series and movies. While many can argue that THE WEST WING was a bit partisan, it definitely had some of the best writing of any show that was airing against it.

Now that he has won that Oscar, Sorkin can do whatever he wants. So, aside from the upcoming Steve Jobs biopic, we have THE NEWSROOM.

Plot: From the mind of Aaron Sorkin, creator of The West Wing and screenwriter of THE SOCIAL NETWORK and MONEYBALL, comes The Newsroom, a behind-the-scenes look at the people who make a nightly cable-news program. Focusing on a network anchor (played by Jeff Daniels), his new executive producer (Emily Mortimer), the newsroom staff (John Gallagher, Jr., Alison Pill, Thomas Sadoski, Olivia Munn, Dev Patel) and their boss (Sam Waterston), the series tracks their quixotic mission to do the news well in the face of corporate and commercial obstacles-not to mention their own personal entanglements.

The show looks great and a little less partisan. Jeff Daniels has always been a quality actor but has languished in smaller roles in recent years. It is nice to see him getting another starring gig. Hopefully this will garner him some awards in the coming years.

THE NEWSROOM premieres Sunday, June 24th on HBO.
