Fans patiently waiting for Mezco‘s upcoming Afterlife line of figures this fall are in for a couple changes, according to the company’s official site.
See, it seems as though Mezco was recently approached by LucasArts (the video game arm of George Lucas’ empire) and told to stop using the name ‘Afterlife’, since it’s the same name of a SIM CITY-eqsue strategy PC game released back in 1996. Why LucasArts would go after Mezco for a game that many brushed off as being a clone of Will Wright’s classic and forgotten is beyond me. The new name, which instantly ups the cheese factor, is Attack of the Living Dead. Hmm, good thing for Mezco that George Romero is such a nice guy.
As well as the name change, the lineup now has three alternate colour schemes, or ‘contagious strains’, as Mezco calls them: Colour, Pale and Black and White. The three will also still be randomly packed with alternative head sculpts for each colour, and the B&W figures will also be sold as a Mezco Direct Exclusive Set.
