Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Another week is coming to an end, and that means it's time for us to gather the latest additions to our JoBlo Horror YouTube channel (check it out and subscribe HERE) together in one place. It's the AITH HORROR VIDEOS OF THE WEEK!

This week, we recommended DEEP RISING in the latest episode of the BEST HORROR MOVIE YOU NEVER SAW video series, added Gabriel Saint's HERE IN THE DARK to our horror short film showcase, told a story of MECHANOPHOBIA in a new episode of TALES FROM CREEPYPASTA, and look back at WORLD WAR Z for an episode of WTF HAPPENED TO THIS HORROR MOVIE? All of these videos can be seen below.

DEEP RISING – Best Horror Movie You Never Saw

Welcome to The Best Horror Movie You NEVER Saw, a series dedicated to examining films that have flown under the radar or gained traction throughout the years, earning them a place as a cult classic or underrated gem that was either before it’s time and/or has aged like a fine wine.

For our latest episode, we take a look at Stephen Sommers 1998 fun-tastic monster bash DEEP RISING starring Treat Williams, Famke Janssen, Anthony Heald, Wes Studi and Jason Flemyng. ENJOY!

DEEP RISING is about: A group of heavily armed hijackers board a luxury ocean liner in the South Pacific Ocean to loot it, only to do battle with a series of large-sized, tentacled, man-eating sea creatures who had already invaded the ship. Watch it HERE!

HERE IN THE DARK – Short Horror Film

Another week another kick ass HORROR SHORT FILM on our JOBLO HORROR VIDEOS channel! Today we're proud to showcase Gabriel Saint's haunting film HERE IN THE DARK, starring Maddisyn Carter, Nancy Linehan Charles and Derrick Denicola who also Produced. Shut the lights, pump up the volume and tap the embed above! This spooky little film is about:

Synopsis: Shelley and Jack's relationship is threatened when they move into a new apartment with a dark history which causes Shelley to begin sleepwalking.

Here’s what Producer Derrick Denicola and Director Gabriel Saint had to say about their macabre creation: "After completing our first feature (which will be available to stream soon) we were looking to shoot something that allowed us to try new techniques: Camera movements, wider frames, and some surreal and paranormal qualities. Once Maddisyn Carter was onboard we began to craft something unique for her tone as an actor. After some conversations and compromises between our team: Derrick Denicola, Richard E. Lambert, Lisa Goddard, James Brent Armstrong, and Gabriel Saint, we borrowed inspirations from some films like: Rosemary’s Baby, Suspira, and Hereditary. In the opening, you can hear the influence of Rosemary’s Baby on James Brent Armstrong’s score, where Maddisyn Carter sings a faint lullaby just like Mia Farrow. This short film gave us the experience to craft our second feature “Ghost Light,” which won Best Dramatic Film at IFS 2020. We are still in the festival circuit with Ghost Light and are lucky enough to be in pre-production for our third feature film."

The music in the short was by talented composer James Brent Armstrong.

MECHANOPHOBIA – Tales From Creepypasta

Synopsis: "A teen's life changes forever after encountering a mysterious being on his way to school."

Creepypastas are the campfire tales of the internet. Horror stories spread through forums like reddit and blogs, rather than word of mouth. Whether you believe these scary stories to be true or not is left to your own discretion and imagination.

Narrated and edited by Freaky Attractions.

WORLD WAR Z – WTF Happened to this Horror Movie

WTF Happened to this Horror Movie is a series that digs into the backstories of all your favorite (and sometimes most hated) horror films. The idea has always been to provide an inside look at what went right (and often what went wrong) with some of these classics (and non-classics).

In this episode, we take a look at the zombie action flick WORLD WAR Z, starring Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos, Matthew Fox, James Badge Dale, Peter Capaldi, David Morse, Ruth Negga and Daniella Kertesz. Directed by Marc Forster, this globe-spanning zombie yarn is adapted from the novel of the same written by Max Brooks, although it's seemingly mostly in name only as the story changed drastically for the big screen. With all manner of production issues, a reshot ending and clashes with the director and producer, Brad Pitt, it seemed like WWZ would be a box office disaster, but it ended up being a major success despite all the production woes. So, let's find out WTF Happened to WORLD WAR Z!
