Alex Winter dishes more detail on the Bill and Ted 3 script

JoBloJoBlo

After announcing that a script was complete and turned in to the studio for a third BILL and TED outing last week, Alex Winter has dropped some details about the thematic elements of the sequel and what it will explore.

“The movies were always about rock and roll,” he said. “That was a big part of the movies, so [we’ll explore] what’s happened to rock and roll in the last twenty years.”

He added:

“The movie’s gonna get in and play with some of that stuff. Where’s rock, where are we, what’s happened to the whole idea of saving the world, or what hasn’t happened?”

Lastly, the most important thing:

“I think the reality is there probably will be another one.”

Growing up with the BILL and TED films was a staple of my childhood. I wouldn’t say it defined me, but damn if I didn’t enjoy the shit out of those films and quote the hell out of ’em. There is so much potential for a third film, which would explore our titular heroes Bill S. Preston, esquire (Alex Winter) and Ted Theodore Logan (Keanu Reeves), who together form the band “Wyld Stallyns” as they’ve progressed in the last 20 years.  It sounds like Winter has a good grasp on how to tackle the time lapse and a game plan for how to execute the film, which is enough to get me jazzed to take another adventure/journey with these guys.

Stay tuned as this develops.
