Alfonso Cuaron’s sci-fi thriller Gravity finally set to land in October

Apt isn’t it, Alfonso Cuaron’s GRAVITY can’t seem to find footing…

GRAVITY, the sci-fi thriller starring George Clooney (SOLARIS, above) and Sandra Bullock (below) that we’ve been covering for years, has once again been given the release date shuffle. At last blush, the movie was slated for an unspecified 2013 release, this after getting bumped from a planned November 21, 2012 outing. Let’s hope this new date of October 4, 2013 actually sticks.

Interestingly, over the last 3 years or so, we still don’t know that much about what GRAVITY will entail. We now it follows, in 3D, astronauts who attempt to return to earth after debris crashes into their space shuttle, leaving them drifting alone in space.

We also know that Guillermo del Toro was “blown away” by the film when he saw a cut of it in August of ’11. Who knows how much toying and tinkering has been done since. Still, it’s Sandy, Cloons and the guy who gave us CHILDREN OF MEN, so I’ll wait as long as it takes.
