It looks like Amanda Seyfried is moving in with Mark Wahlberg‘s John Bennett in the sequel to Seth MacFarlane‘s huggable-yet-foulmouthed talking teddy bear sequel, TED 2. Seyfriend will be joining the sequel as the female lead, which would suggest she’s the love interest for Wahlberg this time out, leaving original star Mila Kunis out of the picture. It’s said she may “only appear in a tiny role, if at all.” The reason for the swap out is being reported as a “creative decision that MacFarlane decided to take with the plotting of the sequel.”
Seyfriend is currently starring in MacFarlane’s A MILLION WAYS TO DIE IN THE WEST, which hits theaters this summer, so I’m guessing they had a good working relationship to help win her the role in TED 2. I wasn’t the biggest fan of the first film, but I know I’m in the minority. That said, I don’t have an issue with Seyfried stepping into the lead. Between her and Kunis, they’re both requisite hotties and have both proven to be able to handle a comedic role, so either will work. I guess it’s nice to have some new scenery regardless and it’s not the first time a new female lead has been cast in a franchise.
TED 2 is set to crack up theaters on June 26, 2015.
