Amber Heard joins the cast of Magic Mike XXL

JoBloJoBlo

MAGIC MIKE XXL has been in production for several weeks now, but it looks like there was one last name to add to the cast; Amber Heard. She will be joining the likes of Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer, Joe Manganiello, Alex Pettyfer and comedian Gabriel Iglesias. The script was written by both Reid Carolin and Channing Tatum, and is being directed by Steven Soderbergh‘s right hand man, Gregory Jacobs, with Soderbergh acting as DP.

While most of the women I knew were too busy complaining that the first MAGIC MIKE didn’t have enough skin for their tastes, I actually found it to be a pretty fascinating flick dealing with the typical tropes that movies about female strippers showcase, but from the male point of view. I suppose the semi-autobiographical nature and Steven Soderbergh‘s guiding hand are responsible for that, and I’m rather curious to see if they have a real story to tell in XXL. At the very least, adding Amber Heard to the cast should draw some of the folks who aren’t all about Channing’s Tatum (whoever they may be).

MAGIC MIKE XXL will hit theaters on July 1, 2015.
