What about Anderson's head?

As expected, in an interview with the videogame news site Gamecloud, indie film production company Crystal Sky CEO Steven Paul confirmed that Paul Anderson has signed on to write and direct the film adaptation to Konami’s classic game CASTLEVANIA.

In the interview, Steven Paul says Anderson was “a natural choice for a project of this nature”. Okay, so after screwing over fans with his work in ALIEN VS. PREDATOR and making his wife into a friggin’ superhero in RESIDENT EVIL: APOCALYPSE, that justifies him being a ‘natural choice’?

The interview continues with Steven Paul saying that Anderson’s vision of the film will “encompass both his own take on the subject matter, but will also stay faithful to many of the game’s aspects that have made it so appealing and such a classic”. Right. I’m still waiting for Anderson’s return to the level he had with EVENT HORIZON (dammit Paramount, get the 2-disc DVD edition over here faster!).

Elsewhere in the interview, Steven Paul talks about his company’s involvement in other videogame-to-film projects TEKKEN and PAC-MAN, which you can read about here. Currently, Anderson is writing the story for CASTKEVANIA, so here’s hoping that he at least played the games before sitting down to write.
