Well, it now seems that the CASTLEVANIA movie is in fact beginning to take shape. I’ve gotta say right off the bat that choosing James Wan as the director/script-reviser was ideal. Paul W.S. Anderson feels the same way, even though Wan took over the roles that were once his. However, Anderson is still very on board as producer and served up a couple of small tidbits as to what we may expect once this CASTLE is finally built. Here’s what he said:
“There’ll be the whip and there’ll be creatures.” Um, okay. Is that it? Well, I believe that Anderson may not want to reveal too much too soon (or he’s just not sure yet). Regardless, at least he has praise for Wan: “James is doing a pass on the script to put himself into it with the tricks and the traps, which he is really good at. One of the things with ‘Castlevania’ is it’s not just about the creatures but the environment trying to get to you as well. I think he is a terrific choice because a key part of ‘Castlevania’ is the intensity of being trapped within the confines of the castle, and he’s shown with ‘Saw’ that he excels with intensity in confined spaces.”
That’s all he’s really got for us now. It’s still way too early in the process to get into anything regarding a cast or special effects, or what have you. I remember playing this game on the original Nintendo waaaaay back in the day. It’d be nice to check out an eventual movie version. I guess we just have to be cool with a long wait.
