Brad over at Bloody-Disgusting sent over a couple of news tidbits late last night regarding your hero and mine, Paul Anderson.

First off is the big-screen adaptation to one of the most celebrated video game franchises ever in CASTLEVANIA. For those who need refreshing, CASTLEVANIA revolves around the Belmont clan of vampire hunters (in this case, Simon Belmont), who for generations have battled Dracula and his forces. Anderson was pegged to direct the film back in November, and while he has the script, Anderson states that he won’t begin filming until after he completes DEATH RACE 3000. As for the plot, Anderson says that it will integrate Dracula’s origin story with the story of the Belmonts. “[There are] a fair amount of references [to the original NES games]. [This will be] a whole new spin to ‘Castlevania’.” Fanboys can rest assured that the famous Vampire Killer whip will be in the film, says Anderson, making the film that much more enjoyable for fans (at least, we hope).

Speaking of DEATH RACE 3000, Anderson says that the remake has an entirely new tone, especially with the reality TV aspect, and has been expanded 20 years. He also said that the remake will not be as much of a parody as the original from 1975 (mmm, cheese). For more on the report, including the sequel to DEAD OR ALIVE, head on over here.
