Three weeks ago, the world got its first real look at director Tom Hooper's CATS. The reveal arrived courtesy of a much-anticipated trailer for the filmmaker's theatrical re-imagining of composer Andrew Lloyd Webber's timeless Broadway musical. For many, the trailer's arrival was a cause for celebration … that is until many theater geeks and cinephiles alike were left feeling horrified by what they'd seen. You see, the film uses a unique method of live-action coupled with CGI costuming that caused the "fur" of many to stand on its end. Thus, the memes and petitions began, proving beyond the shadow of a doubt that the internet ruins much of what's bold and new in the film industry.

Be that as it may, horrific missteps in promotional material can sometimes lead to hilarious ends. It's with that philosophy in mind that I submit for your entertainment, CATS SEMATARY, a remix trailer hailing from Nerdist that combines the frights of Hooper's CATS with that of Paramount Pictures' PET SEMATARY remake.

Thanks to a bit of creative editing, the good folks over at Nerdist have given us a whole new reason to fear CATS. The trailer is a play on the PET SEMATARY plot point of the Creed family cat, Church, coming back from the dead for another one of his nine lives. However, rather than focus on one ferocious feline, the trailer sees the entire cast of CATS resurrected and ready to let the fur fly. The newly-created concept is clever, silly, and might even make for a better film than both CATS and PET SEMATARY combined.

Personally, I take no issue with the presentation of CATS, though the internet has made it quite obvious that I'm of the minority with regard to my actually liking the film's overall look. That's okay though, because I'm sure that CATS will perform like gangbusters once it prowls into theaters. Who will be laughing then, eh? I'll tell you who, Universal Pictures, all the way to the bank.

What do you think of CATS SEMATARY? Do you wish that the trailer was for a real film or are you content with the look of Hooper's CATS? Let us know in the comments section below.

PET SEMATARY is available to own on Digital, Blu-ray and DVD right now, while Tom Hooper's CATS will come bounding into theaters on December 20.
