Andrew Niccol’s sci-fi thriller IN TIME may not have clocked in big numbers at the domestic box office (only $36 million in the U.S. against $96 million overseas), but it still has time to make an impression in our homes; the flick has been scheduled for a JANUARY 31st Blu-ray/DVD combo pack release here in the states. Since the flick has always screamed “wait for DVD” to me, that’s news I can set my watch by.
According to High-Def Digest, the release will be a Blu-ray/DVD/Digital Copy combo pack with 1080p video, a DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 soundtrack, and supplements will include The Minutes behind-the-scenes featurette, deleted/extended scenes, and the Access to In Time: The Game app… You can expect further details in the near future.
In the future, time has become the ultimate currency and genetic alteration has allowed people to stop aging at twenty-five-years-old. Upon reaching twenty-five, the countdown begins and in order to stay alive, everyone must work to buy themselves more time or die within a year. The rich can buy their way out of the situation, while the rest are left to negotiate for immortality. When a struggling young man, Will Salas (Justin Timberlake), comes in contact with a “millionaire,” he is gifted more time than he can imagine. Falsely accused of murder, Will is a fugitive on the run and becomes determined to bring down the entire system by any means possible.
