The Steven Spielberg-produced ANIMANIACS, which is getting a new life on Hulu, has unveiled its first clip and it's doing so with a little help from Spielberg's JURASSIC PARK.
The teaser clip was revealed during Sunday’s cast and producer panel for the ANIMANIACS reboot at New York Comic-Con and features an animated Spielberg introducing the animated trio of Yakko, Wakko, and Dot within the world of JURASSIC PARK. The clip begins with animated versions of JURASSIC PARK'S Alan Grant and Ellie Sattler stumbling upon the Warner brothers and sister during an expedition and it's all done to show that, despite the show going extinct in 1998, the Animaniacs are definitely back to entertain a new generation of viewers.
Animaniacs originally ran from 1993-1998, beginning on Fox Kids before moving to the Kid' WB in 1995. The series was presented as a variety show, with short skits featuring a large cast of characters. While the show had no set format, the majority of the episodes were composed of three short mini-episodes, each starring a different set of characters, and bridging segments. During its run, Animaniacs became the second-most popular children's show among both ages 2-11 and ages 6-11. Despite being popular with children, adults also responded positively to the show, and by 1995, more than one-fifth of the weekday and Saturday morning audience viewers were 25 years or older.
The new Animaniacs is set to premiere on Hulu on November 20, 2020, with a 13-episode season. Hulu gave the revival a two-season series order, and the second season is expected to premiere in 2021. Will YOU be watching the Animaniacs reboot?
