Animator Don Hertzfeldt to direct a sequel to his short World of Tomorrow

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Don Hertzfeldt is a bit of a hero to my alumni (UCSB), so I of course have some fondness for him for that reason alone. But I also really love his work. It’s beautiful, elegant, with a lot of heart and emotion mixed with weird, sick humor. I just love it.

His most recent film – the Oscar-nominated sci-fi short WORLD OF TOMORROW – was also one of his best. It was funny, cynical,
enlightening, dark, sad, thought-provoking. Everything you want movies to be. Furthermore, it had a unique style and aesthetic,
and is really like nothing I’d ever seen. His next film, it seems will be a sequel to WORLD OF TOMORROW called THE BURDEN OF OTHER PEOPLE’S THOUGHTS.

Here’s his announcement on Twitter:

I can’t wait!
