There's no doubt that Jeffrey Katzenberg and Meg Whitman are putting a high value on horror fans as they make programming decisions for their upcoming streaming service Quibi. Set to launch in April of 2020, Quibi gets its name from the fact that it will offer "quick bites" of entertainment. Intended to be watched on your smart phone while you're on the go, episodes of Quibi shows will be in the range of 10 minutes or less… and a bunch of the shows on there will be in the horror and thriller genres.

Veena Sud and Maika Monroe are working on a rideshare thriller called The Stranger, Steven Spielberg is developing a show called After Dark, Alexandre Aja is making an adaptation of the manga Tomie for the streaming service, Sam Raimi is producing a show called 50 States of Fear, Blumhouse is providing the FATAL ATTRACTION-inspired Wolves and Villagers, Guillermo del Toro is crafting a zombie show for Quibi.

And now comes word that Katzenberg and Whitman have AMERICAN PSYCHO and CHARLIE SAYS director Mary Harron directing and co-executive producing a horror series called Emma.

AnnaSophia Robb will star in the show, which follows

the dark journey of a young woman down on her luck and pregnant under mysterious circumstances. She must deal with the increasingly disturbing effects of her pregnancy, and the potential conspiracy surrounding it.

Emma is being produced by Dark Castle Entertainment and Propagate. Platinum Dunes is executive producing with Alex Mace and Hal Sadoff of Dark Castle and Propagate's Howard Owens, Greg Lipstone, and Rodney Ferrell.

I'm not one to sign up for a lot of streaming services, but I do like the choices Quibi is making for their genre shows.
