Anne Hathaway has selected her first leading role after winning the Oscar for LES MISERABLES and it will reteam her with her DARK KNIGHT RISES director, Christopher Nolan. Deadline is reporting that Hathaway will star opposite Matthew McConaughey in Nolan’s INTERSTELLAR.

INTERSTELLAR has picked up a lot of steam since Steven Spielberg left the project, which was scripted by Jonah Nolan. Christopher Nolan jumped aboard the project which is kept under massive secrecy, much like the director’s INCEPTION. What we do know about INTERSTELLAR is this:

“INTERSTELLAR involves time travel and alternate dimensions in a story that sees a group of explorers travel through a wormhole. The script is based on scientific theories developed by a Kip Thorne, a theoretical physicist, a gravitational physicist and astrophysicist at Caltech.”

When the news broke that Matthew McConaughey was going to star, the reaction was greatly positive. I have a feeling there will be some backlash against Hathaway as that seems to be the national sport these days. I like Hathaway as an actress and think she makes an interesting choice for a science fiction film. I think her role in THE DARK KNIGHT RISES could have been handleds differently, but I have no qualms about how Nolan and David Goyer portrayed Selina Kyle.

With INTERSTELLAR slated to open on November 7, 2014, I think we will keep hearing casting news in the near future.
